40 Date nights even your MANLY man will enjoy,

I finally finished it,  I racked my brain, I scoured the internet and racked my brain some more, and I have completed the hubby’s valentine gift.

A date night jar
(which I am considering making into a checklist?)
This is not just any old date night jar.
First I looked for things that can be done in the rural area we live in.  Then, I customized it for my manly man.   I have found the lists online all start to repeat themselves.  Spa date, fondue, dance lessons, scrapbooking, pottery? How many men actually enjoy doing those things?  Well, I mentioned these date ideas to my hubby, ever so innocently, just to get a great laugh at the painful expression on the face of my hunky, bearded, gun toting sweatheart.  That look brought me more joy as a candlelight dinner for two.  Yes, he would do any of those things for me, but I couldn’t put him through that kind of torture, I want to know he is having a good time when we are together.
Here is the list I actually made; (to be honest there are some of these things that he isn’t going to LOVE, but he has to bend a little too you know?)

-Make your own ice cream sundaes, (maybe make homemade ice cream?)
-Swimming, hot springs?
-Take a drive, see where that one dirt road goes?
-Bowling
-Yard games or Frisbee, then s'mores, either in the backyard or indoors
-Breakfast in bed, for dinner.  Don’t forget the crossword puzzle from the paper (or WWF)
-Write a bucket list, try to cross one off every couple months if they are doable
-Take goofy selfies,  take some cute outdoor pics in the same place same pose in every season.
-Build a fort and watch a movie together.
-Watch a movie outside (on the laptop or a projector)
-Do a puzzle, or play a really old board game.
-Go to an amateur league ball game, or even a HS game
-Play pool or ping pong.  They sell 15$ ping pong sets, that attach to your dining table
-Write down your love story for your posterity.  Add comments from both of you.
-Make a mix-CD together or for each other,  dance by candlelight
-Go to the driving range.
-Search for funny You Tube video’s, or watch AFV on Netflix
-Play a practical joke on someone
-Go fishing, take a picnic in case the fish aren’t biting
-Play twister, there are several new versions that are fun
-Drive to the next town and try a restaurant you haven’t been to.
-Play in the rain, play tag, hide and seek, dance in the rain
-Target shooting,  if guns aren't your thing, water guns or Nerf guns can be a blast.
-Cook dinner over a camp fire
-Ride horses, 4-wheelers, motorcycles,
-Bow and arrow target shooting contest, even if all you have is the kids toys.
-Read greeting cards, show each other the funniest ones
-Grocery shopping scavenger hunt/race ( hey its a VERY small town, sometimes our date is the grocery      store, its a 30 minute drive, so I count that. lol)
-Each spend 10 at the grocery store for ½ the dinner, surprise each other.  You might have all desserts?
-Find something rare or exotic that you haven’t eaten before and make that for dinner. Lobster?
-Take a hike
-Go to a local amateur or high school sporting event
-Work on a home improvement project together
-Read a book together
-Go thrift shopping and pick out new outfits.
-Use you tube to learn something new.
-Play and interactive video game, like Wii sports,  make it REAL competitive.  Maybe even place silly bets.
-Test drive a car.
-Mud'n (requires mud, and a 4WD, but Sooo much fun)
-Go out for a progressive dinner, eat appetizers at one place, dinner at another, and dessert at another.  (it  sounds like a lot of food, but you can share the meals, also makes it cheaper)

  1. This is such a great list! Thanks for compiling it. My husband would laugh at a "spa" day....However, I would cringe at test driving a car, because once he gets inside a new car, he wants one...ugh.

  3. These are great ideas even for old folks It just wouldn't matter the age. I think the check list would be great then they would be more apt to do it.
