Snap Purses from upholstery fabric !

The  longer purse is just the right size for paper and pens or glasses or just about anything you want in there. I would love to keep a little make up and maybe some eyedrops in the smaller ones.  You could also do a first aid kit  Hair stuff,
Here are the directions for the longer snap purse.  I took two coordinating pieces and cut one piece for the outside 8 1/2" x 9" and a piece for the lining 8 1/2 by 12 1/2 "  I didn't put an extra strip for design because I decided it had enough bulk with this fabric. Fold the lining fabric over for a small hem about 1/4 inch and pin or stitch.  Then fold the edge of each piece over the outside fabric as shown. Pin and top stitch. IF you want a decorative strip this would be when you place it on before you sew up the casing.  Just cut a strip twice as wide as you will double it and make it the same width of the purse.  In this case a 2" by 8 1/2 inch strip works well.  Make sure that the hem or casing is big enough to slide the measuring tape inside.
put the tape inside the casing with the numbers on the tape faceing the lining.  then stitch the sides of the purse while it is wrong side out.  Finish the seams with zig zag or finishing stitch.  There you go!  turn it right side out and you have a darling purse that snaps shut for your glasses or tissues or first aid kit, pens, you name it.  What ever your heart desires. These will make great gifts.  If you can't get upholstery samples you can almost always find pieces on clearance at the fabric stores.
Finished size is 7" wide and 4" high.  You can cut it any size you want though.
