First I bake my mom's banana cake recipe. It is so delicous and moist and you just throw it all in the mixer bowl and mix.
Banana Cake
by Jennie Rawlins
1 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup Shortening
2 Eggs
beat together and add:
2 Bananas, mashed
2 Cups flour
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Soda
1 heaping Tablespoon Baking Powder
1 Cup buttermilk [can use 1 cup milk
with 2 tsp. Lemon juice and let it set a few minutes]
This cake is wonderful for any occasion but I also love it broken up and in these trifles.
Mix in a bowl until blended. Put in
greased and floured pans and bake for 30 minutes. (never fails)
[you can even just dump everything in
the mixer bowl and beat it altogether at once.]
Then make your own pudding from scratch. It is so delicious and easy I wonder why I ever got into the habit of buying boxes. It only takes a few minutes to cook and certainly beats the instant pudding hands down.
Layer, cake, pudding, cool whip and bananas. three times high. It is delicious.
Another day soon I will post my favorite recipe for quick cooked pudding. Easy, fast and saves you money.
